I had previously heard that all of the 2019 Volvo cars were going to be electric? When did that change?
We have an XC-90, and a V-50. Both are great cars. Still have the old reliable SAAB 9-3, but up for sale due the stick shift. Nobody seems to want to drive a stick anymore.

Misunderstanding. New Volvo models will all have hybrid options in Europe. The new S60 made in USA will be gas-only, at least initially.

Dunno what model it was, but the rental Volvo sedan they gave me several years ago was the most weird car I ever drove. Kept dying (I thought) every stop light, and could not get the doors to lock from outside. Interior controls were just as strange.
Since 2010 Volvo Auto has been owned by the Geely Holding Group, a Chinese multinational automotive manufacturing company.

You mean the Start/Stop function? That’s getting standard on all higher-end vehicles. In the ECO mode, the engine shuts off before complete stop. Takes getting used to, but most new cars seem to do this.
I’m not a fan either. Neighbor’s new Jeep has to have Start/Stop turned off manually after each cold start.

Back in high school, my uncle had the 200 station wagon and claims it’s his “fave” car. I asked him one time why is that during my HS graduation and he told me “you could sleep at the back when you have no money and you can get laid at the back too, trust me” :)
Eventually, after college I leased the S40 for a few weeks and was supposed to return it. I was looking for a cheap apt and eventually got it. When I asked the landlord 8 months later why she gave it to me, she told me because I was the only one driving a European car among the applicants, but then I switched to a Honda.
Geely owns Volvo so... yeah.
My 2014 German vehicle has stop/start.However,it always defaults to the last setting before you shut the car off so that's great.It's my understanding that Mercedes (mine isn't a Benz) always defaults to "on" which would drive me up a wall given that 95% of my miles are at 65/70MPH.
I recently bought an Audi A4 that has this "feature." It is awful, even though it's deemed to be one of the smoothest systems available. Fortunately, some smart people on the Audi forums figured out an ECU hack that allowed me to permanently disable it.
Volvo’s are no more Chinese than Chrysler’s are Italian. Still Swedish management and engineers, just Chinese money backing them.....
