Just looked it up. It won the Oscar for best original soundtrack. It also won several other awards from various enterprises. I stopped watching Oscar night too quite a while ago, but follow the FR threads when it airs.

LOL, for all that was known, thought it might have won in foreign film category. After all, they did have subtitles in portions of the film when it first begins. Even DH enjoyed this. The story and the music. Faith, music, Communism, Love, and the fast pace of life and in seconds fate changes everything. IE, the young protege abruptly ceases in his performance. The Jackson portion reminded of the foreign film GODZILLA when it first came out in the US. Raymond Burr was added to give it an American feel. Thus, Jackson was inserted into the cast/film. Otherwise, he was invisible.
