The former security director for the Senate Intelligence Committee had been in three-year relationship with a New York Times reporter.

WASHINGTON — A longtime staffer for the Senate Intelligence Committee has been arrested on charges of lying to investigators probing the potential leaking of classified information, the Justice Department announced Thursday night.

A federal grand jury indicted the staffer, James A. Wolfe, 58, on three counts of making false statements in December about contacts with reporters, including providing sensitive information related to the work of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which he served as security director for 29 years. He was arrested Thursday and is expected to appear in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland on Friday.

His arrest comes just one day after the full Senate, with little advance notice, quietly authorized the committee to cooperate with the Justice Department regarding what was described only as an “investigation arising out of allegations of the unauthorized disclosure of information.” The 15 members of the committee were briefed on the circumstances of the investigation Monday night.

This sentence - well it sounds like someone feels tricked or something:

"His arrest comes just one day after the full Senate, with little advance notice, quietly authorized the committee to cooperate with the Justice Department regarding what was described only as an “investigation arising out of allegations of the unauthorized disclosure of information.”

And Politico. I followed your Buzzfeed tip and they have an article out about the arrest. They do say she worked for Buzzfeed (and Politico) which, knowing the slimy media, was a surprising admission.

He’s 58 and she’s reportedly 22? Now that is some Spring-Winter relationship or was it a business deal?

It appears that difference in age in couples are more common now in decreasing numbers of relationships with commitments. Young folks are going so many disparate ways. Most of them are lacking teachings from wisdom about life (destruction of the nuclear family: fatherlessness, etc.), and many are very immature and not ready for relationships well into physical adulthood. Many aren’t getting married, which also leads to more diverse situations. Most are on drugs.

Trends toward exaggerated and fake elements of morality have been rising, while other moral tenets of thousands of years have been discarded. The country has also obviously been sinking into third world economic and social tendencies with few rising to present new, domestic business competition. And...other reasons. It’s not the country that we saw during the ‘60s and before.

Apparently, he also had status and money, long widely and implicitly allowed by society to be a permitting circumstance.

Excellent link! Thank you.

From your link - the first page of the indictment, now unsealed, against Wolfe. The image shows that the Grand Jury was sworn in May 3 and the case was assigned to a court on June 7.

Obama had no problem using the CIA to spy on the Democrat controlled Senate back in 2014. If he had no problem spying on Democrats, do you think he’d have a problem spying on Trump?

It’s part of the Ali Watkins story from 2014:

The leaks to the NYT was very serious and long lasting.

And for THREE YEARS, MR. WOLFE, WHOSE NAME IS SO APPROPRIATE, WAS HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH A R E P O R T E R, …… AND THE STORIED F.B.I. NEVER SAW IT.

If that doesn’t depress you, you’re not awake.

” AND THE STORIED F.B.I. NEVER SAW IT.”

The FBI probably knew it and regarded the relationship as an asset to be used.
