You ever read this. This Plane Accidentally Flew Around the World

Yes I did, LOL!

That's what got me started here in FR about two months ago, and from there I bought and read 4 other books about Flying Boats, Pan American and WW2 in the Pacific.

Since I grew up in San Francisco, I knew all about Treasure Island and Alameda. Not in the 30s or 40s, of course but in the 50s and 60s. Not much has changed out in San Francisco Bay.
Finally, while buying books on Flying Boats on Amazon, The Electra Story popped up as a "recommended book..."

It's really a shame there are not any of those flying boats around anymore. I'd love to see one in a museum. Very few left of any kind from that era. Those things were immense and the insides were very spacious and first class. Reading that story made me look into the flying boats more.

I've yet to read the book about the trip referenced in the article. I told my dad about it and he downloaded it to listen to. I've not asked him how he liked it.
