Cops/ criminals just take your phone and hold it in front of your (live or dead) face and it’s unlocked?

The Apple iPhone FaceID requires a living face and an actual intentional look to unlock it. . . it won’t work on a dead body, or someone who won’t look at the iPhone. Won’t work with a photo, statue or 3D image either.

I still dislike the entire concept. I'm an old fuddy duddy. What's the most recent model iPhone to have the fingerprint recognition?

The iPhone 8. . . contemporaneous with the iPhone X which has the FaceiD.

Ok, so the cops or criminals twist your arm while they hold it up to your face....
( : >)

(can Face ID controlled iPhones be emergency locked liked the iPhone 6 can now, where fingerprint ID is locked out if you press the power key 5 times (and dials 911 unless you cancel it... ))?

Cool. Thanks. Once my 6 is no longer supported, I’ll get an 8 and turn the 6 into an iPod.

You still don't have to open your eyes and look at it.

Even more so. They have only five tries to match a face before it requires using a passcode. It has the same protections of the TouchID and while TouchID is only 1 in 50,000 secure against false positives, FaceID is 1 in 1 million. Why would you think it would not be?

You can disable the FaceID unlocking by pressing and holding either volume button and the side button simultaneously for 2 seconds, or longer to turn off the device. It then requires you to use your passcode to unlock the iPhone X. I strongly suggest you use a six or seven character complex passcode (not just numbers).
