Re strangers, pit buls “get out” of their enclosures and go hunting...for people and pets. That isn’t normal domesticated pet behavior. Re Family: Per the statistics above, 52% of the people pit bulls killed were family or household member.

One variable that such studies have failed to address is what attitudes the owners had. Maybe the pits are better than some other breeds at expressing it in that manner, and deserve extra caution and respect. I’d still say a dog loyal to a relatively good person should be less likely to wreak havoc.
