A historic island fort is being sold for less than the price of a one-bedroom flat in London.
Stack Rock Fort, off the coast of Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire, was built to defend Britain from an invasion from France's Napoleon III.
Made up of three floors with spiral staircases leading to each one, with cannon rooms, former sleeping quarters, the island provides a 360-degree view of the Haven waterway.
The average cost of buying a home in London is £471,944 and the average cost in Wales is £152,999, according to the UK Land Registry.

Dr. Evil should snap that up for his next secret lair.
Me too. I love the really old stuff. Hubby’s family is Scottish. When he was little his dad was next in line to get the family castle/keep, whatever it was called. He turned it down. I looked it up a few years ago and there’s not much left of it now.
“Hubbys family is Scottish.”

Those Scots know what they are doing.
The island of Niihau in Hawaii is wholly owned by a Scots family-——has been for years.

The crack in the foundation concerns me. But I dearly love the steps that go right down to the water. Has possibilities for Hollywood movies.
There’s also a wonderful little island just off the Brazilian coast, Ilha da Queimada Grande. The only problem is it’s populated mostly by Golden Lancehead Vipers, some of the world’s most brutally neurotoxic snakes. One bit will pretty well do you.
Definitely a fixer-upper.
But it looks like it could be a great home and a perfect refuge against the Zombie Apocalypse.

Ok who wants to go in on this and go live there totally off the grid?
Can zombies swim?
Put in a small modular reactor and you’ could have heat, light and desalinated water.
And it looks like cabbage could grow on the roof. Or maybe...raise goats for meat and milk.
Seems to be the subject of considerable discussion...
I don’t know, but I read a book about German Nazi zombies that got dumped off of a ship and they walked across the ocean floor to their destination.
The potential uses of a place like that are limited only by your imagination. You could make a living off piracy. Turn it into a massive party house. Keep deposed heads of state in chains in the basement. Paintball gallery. Start your own religious cult. Become a mad scientist and take over the world, that sort of stuff...
I could go nuts redeveloping that place into an amazing abode. Probably cost $10 mil+ to really do nicely, but it would be out of this world. Helicopter pad on roof garden, enclosed green houses in that central courtyard, good dock and nice wrap-around elevated deck for jogging and views. So many cool features to enhance.
It would only be worth it though, if it’s located outside the UK’s jurisdiction, which I’m sure it isn’t. Taxes too high, bad government etc. No thanks.
Nice picture. Seems like an Aegean Island would be a better deal, not least because of the climate.
