Preet Bharara: D'Souza Not Treated Unfairly, Worried Trump May Try To Pardon Himself
Real Clear Politics ^ | 3 June 2018 | Tim Hains

Posted on 06/03/2018 9:47:44 AM PDT by COBOL2Java

Sunday on CNN’s 'State of the Union,' former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Pree Bharara joined Dana Bash to discuss President Trump’s recent pardon of Dinesh D'Souza, who said Bharara "screwed" him, and if Trump has the power to pardon himself.

About Trump's recent use of the presidential pardon power, Bharara said: "You are supposed to pardon people because they are worthy of being pardoned, not because you're trying to please anyone in your political base or you're trying to spite anyone who you might think is your political adversary. And I think it's a sad commentary on the power, which, by the way, can be taken away by the American people in the future -- and if you abuse the pardon power in a particular way, there comes a point where Congress can take action as well."

...snip...

Part of the problem here is, with respect to Dinesh D'Souza or anyone else, there is just a process you are supposed to follow. And it is true that the president has a broad grant of authority, especially in the pardon arena.

But, generally speaking, so people understand that that power is being exercised fairly and equitably and on the merits, and not because of whim or spite or partisan advantage, you go through the pardon attorney, and you get the opinions of the people who engage in the prosecution, and you talk to the judge, and there's a deliberation. And then the president can choose to disregard it.

By now pardoning a number of people who are his political allies...he's making it clear that he is prepared to pardon anyone for any reason without any review.

Poor Preet. Trump fired him. Trump now pardons Dinesh. It could not happen to a more deserving Obama butt boy. Hillary lost and Preet lost his meal ticket and possibly higher office in the DOJ. Don’t you just love it! MAGA

F' you, Bharara. You made D'Souza a political prisoner. Trump exonerated him. Check. Mate. And did I mention, F' you.

Hey Preeti baby, I await your comments regarding Rosie O’Donnell and her campaign contributions before I take anything you say about Mr D’souza seriously.

Of course, Bharara, you are not supposed to prosecute people just because you know they are your political adversary and make a movie about the dangers you pose to the Republic.

Everyone knows the rules are only to be applied to conservatives, never to Progressive leftists./S

This is the way the left operates. Say things like this enough and the sheeple will believe he has committed a crime. Just make up stupid stuff, like pissing on a bed. Leftist scum like Hillary says, are easy to manipulate.

Pardon himself with respect to the investigation that has no crime at the center of it? Didn’t know you were a moron, Preet.

The Judge in the case was a Clinton appointee.

The current pardon attorney is Larry Kupers. He first started working in the Office of the Pardon Attorney under Obama. Jeff Sessions(lol) then picked Kupers as the Pardon Attorney in 2017.

Is it any wonder why Trump supposedly avoided the Pardon Attorney?

… “useful idiot” it was the attitude held by Vladimir Lenin towards communist sympathizers in the West (America). While Lenin and the Soviets held them in utter contempt they also viewed them as tools for dispensing communist propaganda to other countries, thus infecting foreign cultures with their totalitarian tripe. After their mission was complete, they were no longer “useful.”
