he forensic psychiatrist who assisted in the investigations into the death of American child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey has been shot dead outside his office.
Dr. Steven Pitt, 59, helped investigate the high profile 1996 murder case as well as a string of other killings in the Phoenix area more than a decade ago.
In JonBenets case Pitt believed the pineapple found in the six-year-olds digestive tract, which her mother denied she ate, was proof of a family cover up.
He was leaving his office when witnesses say they heard a loud argument then gunfire as he was shot on Thursday.

The note had the mother’s handwriting, facts only she would know, and would have taken a long time to write, too long for an intruder to just sit there and write. We know the intruder wrote the note in the home because it came from a paper pad in the home. The verbiage is also very Patsy Ramsey.
That note, alone, points to the family.
Yes there are plenty of unanswered questions for the Ramseys. On the other hand there are a couple of very suspicious suspects. But Smit’s theory about the basement window falls apart with the discovery of the intact cobweb. But what haunts me the most is that terrible scream in the night, and the strange lights in the kitchen also after midnight.
Yes the cobweb was still intact meaning no way could an intruder get in that room without disturbing the cobweb.
Cornered in his hotel room, suspect kills self reportedly:
“The suspect, who has not yet been identified by police, is believed to be 56-year-old Dwight Lamon Jones.”
