I JUST TALKED TO POLICE WITHIN THE LAST HALF HOUR. THEY SAY THE GIRL ATTACKED BY THIS DOG IS IN STABLE CONDITION, WAS TAKEN TO CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT BEFORE 3:00 THIS AFTERNOON IN THE CITY. POLICE TELL US THAT A 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL WAS VISITING A 17-YEAR-OLD FRIEND WHEN THE GIRL ARRIVED THE DOG SOMEHOW GOT OUT OF THE HOUSE AND ATTACKED THAT 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL. NOT LONG AFTER POLICE SAY A NEIGHBOR HEARD SCREAMS AS THAT DOG'S OWNER WAS YELLING TO TRY TO GET THE DOG OFF OF THE GIRL. THAT'S WHEN POLICE SAY A NEIGHBOR STEPPED OUT OF THE HOUSE AND SHOT THE DOG, KILLING THE DOG

The .38 special as a pistol would be the ABSOLUTE minimum caliber, here, and the .357 (and UP) would be better.
The SCARY BLACK RIFLE would be just about perfect—but you would have to have one loaded and ready for action now, wouldn’t you? Not locked in a safe with ammo under lock and key somewhere else.

Of course, nobody needs guns, and we all know they are only good for murdering schoolkids.

— that's my point, They don't make a noise until they bite.. Was at a friends house for an indy 500 party, didn't know he had a pit bull. He wasn't a thug or bad guy. His Pit kept staring at me and then silently walked over to me sitting on the couch and attacked my hand and anything else loose on me. i wasn't hurt, I had my eye on the dam dog the whole time and could see the sneaky bastard had his wheels turning inside his head.. the owner was right there and grabbed the dog and threw him outside. needless to say, we were still sorta friends but, I never went over to his house again.
