Anyone know how the whole 'Becky' thing started? Is it from Becky Thatcher in 'Tom Sawyer'?
I had never heard of the term until a few weeks ago when the gal tagged as 'BBQ Becky' blew up the interwebs for calling the cops on a couple black guys charcoal-grilling meat in a public park. The hilarious aspect of that story turned to be that the woman was a classic Bay Area liberal, Stanford Ph.D who works as a professional environmentalist. In her naiveté, she didn't realize how lethal accusations of racism would be to her enviro-wacko approach to air quality.
