Back in 1980, I tested and hired Census enumerators.
From the head office came the order to “fill the quota”.
I was, if at all possible, told to hire a “half black, half Hispanic, deaf female Jew in a wheelchair”.
Obviously, political correctness had yet to infest society over much.
This was after the NAACP fiasco, where a posse of scary thugs with demands showed up, and I had to literally dig to the bottom of the stack to find 6 blacks to hire.

Long story short, I dredged up the hirees and after not reporting back again and/or throwing their forms in the trash, they all quit within a week.
It was an educational experience.
And be it noted, for the first bit, I went rogue and hired a South Vietnamese lady, who I did not even know was a lady, when I called her/him in for an interview, simply because his/her name fascinated me.
She was a rare gem.
Screw the system.
