“Soylo: A Soy Wars Story crashing and burning. “

I’ve heard it’s actually pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but a fun flick overall and probably the last Star Wars movie that’s actually going to look and feel like one for some time.

I still will not pay money to see it ... I almost think they’re destroying the original characters for a reason at this point. Star Wars was too “male dominated” for the freaks at Disney. Expect oppressed lesbian goat Jedis, tranny Hutts, and evil white men that look like Trump trying to enslave the galaxy moving forward.

Seriously, how can you f-up a basic, good vs evil story/theme like Star Wars? I liked the stupid movies for one single reason : Basic, fun junk food for the brain used to forget about life for two hours. Now they’re borderline ridiculous after sitting in the Last Jedi torture chamber.

My only hope now is that the franchise somehow goes into a tailspin and someone can land it for a fraction of the price Disney paid. It’ll never happen of course, but it’s nice to think it might :-).

I’ve heard it’s a piece of crap. I will never know firsthand.

The original Star Wars movies were an anti-establishment insurrection that brought audiences a genre they really missed. Lucas has never admitted it and never will, but it made him rich.

The liberalism and early p.c. of the 60's and early 70's killed the cowboy and war genres. The only ones that could get made featured anti-heroes.

Star Wars brought back the cowboy movie as space cowboys, in a fun, fresh format with characters the audience enjoyed. The lads could blast their way across the Galaxy having a grand old time while killing Nazis, I mean, storm troopers. Leia was the updated damsel in distress, at once sexy and believable as a leader of the rebellion. Carrie Fisher should have relished her role and fame instead of apologizing for Leia and throwing shade on others.

But, it couldn't last. The Empire didn't just strike back, it reined in the rebellion. Gloom and doom, over-serious and over complicated plots, no clear good and evil and characters that couldn't have fun blowing up a Death Star if they tried.

The original cast were not Lawrence Olivier and Katherine Hepburn, but they were right in the grove of the Matinee movie. We enjoyed them and cared about them. I just don't care about the new cast and wonder how they could manage a weekend together much less save the Galaxy. I suppose I'll watch some of them on Netflix.
