“When you analyze wrongful shootings there is almost always a factor (usually underreported) that caused the cop to believe shooting was warranted. The adult-sized twelve year old with the realistic toy gun comes to mind. Reaching into a pocket when told to freeze is another.”

All that matters to me is if the shooting is wrongful when committed by a law abiding citizen then it should also be wrongful when committed by law enforcement. There is no clause in the Constitution that grants law enforcement any special rights or a right to kill and I object to the notion that police get special dispensation to shoot and kill just because they represent the Almighty State.

When cops do wrongfully shoot someone there are consequences, as there should be. If they got a pass every time that would be different. It is only in a police state that no police shooting is “wrongful”.
