Surprising to who? Melania was born and raised in Eastern Europe, not a Chicago housing project.

I am sure removing the velvet Elvis Posters and the Graffiti “art” was step 1.

Along with the gigantic “one note bass” speakers and the $35 mp3 player for the three room stack of (c)rap music.

Maybe they saw the decor at Trump Tower. The Donald has a penchant for gaudiness.

That’s not just his personal residence, it’s a high dollar real estate development. I’m sure the gaudiness was a business decision.

The more classically "historical rooms" aren't usually messed with (Lincoln Bedroom, the Red Room, etc.). "Messed with"? Today's writing is... casual, to say the least.

Clinton rented out the Lincoln Bedroom in exchange for campaign cash.
Ten bucks says the author doesn’t know that.

The Obamas chose to pay out of pocket, spending about $1.5 million in the process,
No questions about where they got the money.........

The Trumps spent two million dollars, one million for fumigation, one million for decoration.

Moochelle made the White House look like a pimp's crib. It looked like
she went to a flea market and bought all the Superfly "artwork".

Congress provides the first family with a $100,000 redecorating budget...The Trumps chose to spend about $2 million, but it's not exactly clear who paid for what, given the lack of Trump's tax returns and whatnot. Seriously?
Im really curious what the tax returns are supposed to reveal, according to the leftists who keep insisting on seeing them. But I dont think they would reveal much about who paid for the interior decorating of the White House. In any case, the author should have gone back to reread the first sentence of the paragraph before wondering who paid for the redecorating. Obviously, taxpayers did *not* pay for it. So, either Trump or a donor paid. And given that such a donation would be illegal, that leaves only Trump as the one footing the bill for the decorations.

The Obamas chose to pay out of pocket, spending about $1.5 million in the process, per The Daily News. The Trumps chose to spend about $2 million, but it's not exactly clear who paid for what, given the lack of Trump's tax returns and whatnot.
Notice the absolute credulity of the "out-of-pocket" claim compared to the skepticism that the Trumps did the same.
