If we take your assertion at face value for the moment - that the US government apparently has extensive alien high technology at its disposal, why would they be letting illiterate goat farmers in far off lands kick their ass for 20 years?
We have the ability to kill every goat farmer in Afghanistan and yet we don't...so the goal is obviously something other than killing them.
