Of course they are. "Supergirl" was Social Justice Warrior crap right from the get go.
To be fair, the first season did promote family values and surprisingly enough defending national borders (as the DEO was effectively the show’s equivalent of ICE/border patrol especially regarding extraterrestrials, and in fact, pretty much the main reason why it even exists, let alone brought in Supergirl to work for them, was because of several aliens who escaped Fort Rozz, many of whom were criminals who were causing a ruckus on the planet), not to mention the character Cat Grant in one episode actually expresses remorse for choosing her career over her kid (and was implied to have chosen to give birth to him rather than have him “taken care of”, if you get my drift), with Kara Danvers actually suggesting she see her son (let me put it this way: Modern feminists, especially the NOW-types, would have practically crucified Cat Grant for showing any remorse for choosing a career over her kid, believing that a woman shouldn’t be satisfied by anything less than a full-paying career, let alone have any interest in starting a family, so that if anything is a rare instance of them pushing for anti-feminism). Heck, the main villains were composed of environmentalist terrorists, and they weren’t exactly treated all that sympathetically DESPITE being Kara’s relatives. In fact, the final few episodes reveal Project Meridia and it had those under the influence actually spouting out stuff taken right out of the liberal agenda, which actually ends up giving a bit of a condemnation to the far-left agenda (though I’m not sure if that was necessarily the intent of the writers).
It wasn’t until its move to the CW starting with Season 2 that it REALLY went far to the left and tried to push everything left-wing under the sun, right down to it all of a sudden pushing for open borders despite it going against what the DEO stood for in the first season. Did it have its warts even in the first season? Probably (the feminist messaging that is occasionally given as well as turning Jimmy Olsen into a black guy were a bit of a turnoff. I mean, not that I dislike blacks, but couldn’t they hire Cameron Monaghan or even the guy who currently plays Archie in the Riverdale TV series to play Jimmy Olsen? They look the part more.). But it at least had stuff in there that made the season redeemable to watch compared to later seasons. It’s actually a bit surprising that the first season would air on CBS, considering it seemed to have a surprising amount of conservative messages in it.
And yeah, I quit after Season 2, after a long period of them effectively shilling for Hillary Clinton in the form of President Marsden, indirectly calling Donald Trump a fascist multiple times (which is a false label, BTW, if anything, Clinton’s closer to a fascist), turning Alex into a lesbian despite NEVER even being implied to have been anything other than straight in season 1, a completely pointless feud between the Daxamites and Kryptonians despite that NEVER being indicated in the comics (and came across as politically-charged), and extremely badly-formed plotlines (for goodness sakes, it literally took the entire season to fully reveal that Marsden was in fact a closet alien after first hinting at it in her formal debut in a similar manner to how they first hinted at Hank Henshaw actually being non-human. I was actually hoping they’d reveal her to have ulterior motives that were inherently bad for the Earth, effectively an evil foil to Green Martian, but that never came to be.), even dropped several plotlines that clearly were planned for the next season (like General Lane and Maxwell Lord planning to do something with the Omegahedron). And going by what I’ve read up on Season 3, without watching even a second of it, I can say I definitely don’t regret the decision to quit when I did. And what’s little revealed of Season 4 only reinforces my view. You would think, especially after Kreisberg got suspended for lewd actions against his female coworkers, that the writers would wise up and keep their political and social views to themselves, but no... Even Arrow seems to be more conservative than Supergirl right now, and that’s saying a lot considering that Green Arrow, the superhero series Arrow was based on, is one of the more left-wing superheroes in the comics. I’m surprised they even BOTHERED with a Season 4, considering just how bad its ratings are right now. Had it been me in their position, I’d probably cancel the series specifically BECAUSE of its bad ratings.
