It’s not his research. It’s a Newsweek article smearing Halper and muddying the waters. If Halper did in fact cultivate sources in the Carter campaign, he wasn’t doing it as part of the Democratic administration in power at the time. Whereas he was spying on the Trump campaign at the behest of the Obama administration. That’s what makes the second effort sinister - Obama was using the organs of state power to spy on the opposition. This was something even Nixon never stooped to - he hired a bunch of civilians to do what he wanted done.

Nixon didn’t hire anyone. He got caught trying to funnel money to the people who did it with the intention of helping him, and he felt a need to support them. Some of them were friends. But he was never shown to be involved with the breakin. Just the cover-up.

I’ll keep an open mind on Halper, thanks for the information, but I’m not feeling very trusting about someone who thought Hillary would be a better president. Best thought would be he’s a Never-Trumper who had experience in this type of thing and wanted a last fling behind the scenes before the curtain on his show came down.

Halper has friends all through the deep state and heavily within the Bush “family”. I can’t convince myself that this whole cesspool is 100% a democrat operation.

I think that you cannot look at his work as being one party vs another. It is more about elites vs non-elites, establishment vs usurper as populists rejected the business as usual two party structure from first the left under Obama and then populists (I prefer Nationalist) under Trump. He saw his interests more close!y aligned with Hillary than Trump. It’s that simple.
