From within the department, the acting DAG need not have been a position confirmable by the senate, as Huber and Donoghue are. IOW, he has lower positions to choose from. “Senior civil service lawyers” are not subject to Senate advise and consent. US Attorneys are.

Caputo, on Ingraham, holy cow! Not just [not named by name] Halper, not just FBI. Looking for clearance from his lawyer to name names, the Obama admin was coming at the Trump campaign from multiple directions.
