That is not true. He was asked politely and repeatedly to keep the focus on the thread for normies, and to lay off the TV show, history channel, time travel, Area 51, stuff.
He didn't want to abide by those suggestions.

At first it was amusing, but then was maddening. It was generating into something like this: 'Q used the letter A! The TV show The A-Team had an episode about explosives! There will be an explosion tomorrow!'
Speculation of the threads is what we all do. But Q is not making things that esoteric. He even spells things out for us. His clues are MEANT to be solved, mostly readily.
People that want to make this some half a$$ed game are way off base.
