I was over on the 8chan boards earlier and there seems to be some consensus that the pallet shown were in fact Iphones that were distributed to the bad actors so they could capture data from them. The pictures posted last night were supposedly coming from said phones and sent out as “gotchas”

What say you?

I see no way to direct a bulk of phones to any particular subset of "bad guys," unless the phones (or laptops, or tablets) are purchased in bulk by the black hats. In that case, a batch could be special prepared, but more than a few people would know about the special prep.

Generally, it is more likely any batch of "special" phones is MORE secure, not less secure. Backdoored phones are more likely "one off" and targeted to specific bad guys.

I don't think the recent photos are from black hat phones, images then taken from them by team-Q and shown in public as a demonstration that the black hats are on insecure devices. Major tip of hand if possible/true, stupid move.
