Wasn’t it the Baathists that supported or at least were involved with Hitler?
When we were discussing Sadamn Hussein there was a great thread with many graphics about the subject. IIRC
Arab-centric nationalists with socialism. Make sense from that. And Saddam and Assad were both Baathists but were opposed. Just like Muslim divisions.
