They do have quite a bark, don’t they? Had a couple on the line at an Appleseed event, and I had forgotten to put my plugs back on. Ouch.
Always shot mine with hearing protection on.

Ive had two. One from the cmp program and the other from an estate sale. I still have the estate sale one. The other I traded to a friend. You can get parts and work it over and it will shoot great. The history is amazing. You can get a book to look up serial numbers of when parts were made. The receiver number will give a year of manufacture. Most pre 45 were assembled and milled by ladies. Mine has the cartouche in the stock from the Springfield Armourys commanding officer of the when it was assembled. 1943 July to August. The Aniston armory checks them out. Last I heard they return them to mil-spec quality. You want to stop a line of shooters at the range drag one out and let everyone see it. Personally I dont like them but I may get another one. 🤔

Ive got a video of Mrs. L shooting a Garand at a local club. They were hosting a Zombie Shoot (what a gas!) and they had a bunch of Garands available.
She put 7 out of 8 on Steel at 100 yards from the standing position the first time she touched one. The instructor was astounded and quite frankly so was I.
Now she wants one.
What a woman.
