I always just say “13th floor please,” knowing most high rises don’t have a 13th floor. Most make a move to find it, but only a few search for more than a second or two.

I usually say “Pursuant to public act 147, paragraph b subparagraph 3, it is hereby deemed illegal to speak in elevators. Please follow the law.”

Usually gets some snickers.
