SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A male political theory professor said Friday he won’t apologize to a female gender studies professor for a joke about “ladies’ lingerie” he made while both were riding in a crowded elevator. The public spat comes amid heightened sensitivity to sexual misconduct propelled by the #MeToo movement.
Professor Ned Lebow, who teaches political theory at King’s College London, told The Associated Press that he has refused to apologize because he did nothing wrong and because a complaint filed by Professor Simona Sharoni against him with the International Studies Association is “frivolous.”
Sharoni, a professor of women’s and gender studies at Merrimack College in Massachusetts, said in a complaint she filed last month that she was standing near the elevator at a San Francisco hotel and she offered to press the elevator buttons when Lebow “said with a smile on his face, ‘women’s lingerie’ and all his buddies laughed.”
She said she froze and didn’t confront him. As the men walked out of the elevator, the only other woman in the elevator turned to her and told her maybe they should have spoken up. They said it is no longer acceptable to make such jokes.
“As a survivor of sexual harassment in the academy, I am quite shaken by this incident,” Sharoni wrote.
Hours after the April 5 encounter, she filed a complaint with Mark Boyer, the executive director of ISA, which was hosting the annual conference on international relations studies.

I’m assuming she would not like the lyrics to “Suffragette City” by David Bowie, nor would she appreciate the fact that there is a low mountain peak in my state called “Squaw Tit.”
If I mentioned either on the subway, and she was within earshot, she would no doubt report me as well.

The emotional blackmail tactics only work as long as people remain empathetic.
These cry-bullies are destroying empathy by burning people, individually and en masse.
It also destroys any credibility for the “we’re better because we’re more caring, understanding, communicative”.
No, you’re not.
Not when you won’t stand in that moment and say, “I’m offended”.
Not when you won’t bother to care about the other side and engage in projection, assuming the disagreement or misunderstanding is only due to “they hate us/ fear us/ are crazy/stupid/evil”.
Not when you don’t care about the proportionality. Bad joke or rude comment, liberal bullies will form a digital or actual lynch mob, destroying someone’s career, taking away their livelihood, not caring if the person ends up homeless and isolated. Not caring if the punishment is FAIR.
Just tear them to pieces, the degree of the offense or actual guilt is irrelevant. It is seen as appropriate because someone officially oppressed is offended and their friends and a thousand strangers can join in the bullying, enabled by moral cover and egged on by their friends to be ever more cruel. Then move on to the next target of the day’s 2 minute hate, never caring to check on the status of the target weeks or months later.

The college should be sued for not having a “safe space” elevator.

Given the titles of her books, not surprised she also has bastions of leftism, Evergreen and American U. on her resume.

If she’d replied “yes please, it’s one floor above the erectile dysfunction department” His buddies would have cracked up and ribbed him about it for days.
That’s the problem. Once upon a time, you could apologize and make the effort not transgress again. But now, when the snowflakes hear an apology, they smell blood in the water and suddenly it’s an “incident” that needs to be dragged out and investiged and belabored and have formal report and a “frank discussion” and the apologist is hanging by thread wondering if they’ll be fired or shunted into a dead-end job.
This is an old joke that likely dates from one of the Marx Brothers movies. That this woman got her lingerie in a twist over the remark is ridiculous.
So let’s review, no let’s not bother.
