I hit a pregnant doe late one night in Buchanan County Missouri. Driving under the speed limit and she was flung back across the road and up the embankment. Car was totaled front left side and undriveable. Waited a long time for a Sheriffs deputy to come. He was a personable young man who told me with a straight face that they don’t patrol that area at night because there’s too many deer on the roads.

I think you’re always better off hitting them. A friend of mine dodged a deer on a Colorado road and went off the cliff. He survived but he’s a paraplegic now.
