I don't think any country runs on gold-based system.

There is a profound and not well understood relationship between brute force and money. Trump gets it.

I didn't write my thoughts correctly. I should have said..several countries have replaced the dollar with a gold backed currency....as China?

That’s right. The U.S. dollar is is circulated through Mideast oil and back to the U.S., where it goes into government bond market and other investments—still the safest by far offering a good return. The Mideast and all of world trade that supports this system is protected by the U.S. Navy and other military including Spacecom.

In a very real sense, that Mideast oil is our oil, since it can only be traded for U.S. dollars, and most of the governments are propped up by U.S. power.

Trump also understands how the precarious economy of China is totally dependent on access to U.S. markets not to mention Mideast oil.

In business, this is referred to as LEVERAGE.
