When I bought my 2012 Toyota Tacoma I told the salesman that I did not want the back up camera. He said it came with the package. I am so glad I have one now. It is the best invention for trucks/vans since the intermittent wipers. I use my camera all the time. It is great for backing into a parking space. It is especially useful for hooking up a trailer. I can line up the ball directly under the trailer hitch without getting out of the truck by myself.
My Wife’s car has one and I do check it for roaming kitties who are outside...
My 16 Tacoma came with one and love it.
The camera has saved me. My new neighborhood has a narrow street. My area has had some new houses go up and contractor vehicles all over.
The sales guy told me that there have been more crunches on the lot because staff gotten too dependent.
I too have a Taco, 2013, and specifically did not want the camera but was forced to accept it as part of the package, and now I can not do without it.
Can I ask you all how you like your Tacomas? I’m looking to trade in my current ride while it’s still worth some coin and get something with more functionality — 4x4, some hauling capability, the bed for general use, etc, without getting a giant honkin’ full-size truck, and the Tacoma gets better MPG than my coupe :) — the Tacoma always comes up as fitting the bill for what I want, especially as I’d be looking for a vehicle to keep long term and reliability, my top priority this time, seems bulletproof on the Tacoma.
