different story they did not seek to create the situation and I am sure most parents who have to parent there grand child are broken hearted over the fact that the child’s parent is dead or not the proper person to raise them.

This is a pointless article. It doesn’t say what happened to the child and why the child was taken away. There are many older couples entrusted with raising children. Often their grandchildren. There needs to be some specific reason, abuse or neglect, that caused this drastic measure. What was it? And though they have improved, it said, there was something they still haven’t done to get the baby back. What was it? What is the point of the article?

I recognize that there are people in their 60s (and even younger) who are too old to properly raise children. My objection came to big gov taking away the children because of age. My point was that being in their 60s should not be a reason to take children away. It's a scary step down that slippery slope of big gov taking control of all aspects of life.

As far as what's ideal for raising children? The ideal was in the 1950s, for those fortunate enough two have to loving parents, dad worked, mom stayed home and took care of the kids, home, community and neighborhood involvement.

Some grandparents and older parents do very well raising children, some don't. It's not up to gov to decide what is an acceptable age for raising children.

Yep.. My brothers conservative-minded retired school teacher mother-in-law was in her late 70’s/ early 80’s when she helped raise her grandchildren. She did an outstanding job!
