My son is a Veteran of the United States Army. He went to the #VA in Salt Lake City yesterday. This was the condition of the room he was seen in. Very unprofessional, unsanitary and disrespectful. Please retweet. Maybe @realDonaldTrump will see it.

.update, the condition of the room was the way it was when he went in, no other room was offered and no attempt to clean it up was made for the duration of his appointment. No apologies offered. He received injections for a service injury during one of his tours in Iraq.

.update Thank you all for the retweets. Several local news channels have contacted my son and will be interviewing him. The Chief of Staff from the #VA has left a voicemail for him. This has gotten much bigger than expected. I’m appreciative to all of you.

.update #VA is going to “review policies”. Says “sometimes medicine is messy.” Casts for diabetic vets done in this room. Not acceptable conditions for anyone. Just clean up between patients! Garbage on the counter, no place to wash hands, instruments not cleaned. #Yuck

.update At first I was saddened to see the room pics. Now I’m getting upset! Obviously “policies” aren’t practiced. Several patients must have been seen in here to get to this condition. Any gangrene? Who knows? Veterans need Choice! Where’s Congress?

.update My son Chris was interviewed by the local Salt Lake affiliates of FOX, ABC, CBS, and NBC. I think Fox will air at 9:00 pm tonight and the rest at 10:00 pm. My plan is to contact our lawmakers on Monday. Veterans need better care and choices. Thanks to all of you!!!

Shut down all the VA facilities.

Give every Veteran a medical card that can be used ANYWHERE, SAME AS A MEDICARE CARD.

Problem solved. Veterans served properly and many $ saved.

For those who have not experienced VA health care services first hand, this has not been my experience and is far from universal in the VA system.

As a disabled Vietnam vet, I have been in the VA system for some time. I have never seen anything like that in the three states in which I have used the system (Hawaii, Washington and Alaska). The people with whom I have interacted have always been courteous, respectful and as helpful as the byzantine VA system allows. The facilities I have been at were all first rate, well maintained and as clean as any civilian facility I have seen.

Apologies, I know I am quite behind important research on the thread. I’m responding to your post of photos of conditions in the VA.

1) Prayers for this soldier.

2) have a son-in-law with life threatening conditions as a result of Iraq. He’s been seeking VA help for 10 years with a long and complicated a story. The kids have somehow gotten long delayed appointments approved at specialists outside the VA but paid for by the VA just in the past 2-3 months. Daughter said its thanks to something President Trump signed which orders outside doctors to be approved if the VA hasn’t addressed the need.

I still hear of veterans in dire need of proper care so obviously the system isn’t fixed. My son-in-law is still in bad shape also, but if I can help by trying to get them to tell me how they accessed more help please freepmail me.

I will most likely be offline most of the next 36-48 hrs so don’t think I’ve ignored you. I will check my mail and pings when I log back in.
