The Chinese have no naval combat experience or a legacy of naval aviation. If an actual war were to occur, the Chinese Navy would not last long. Those ships would become expensive coffins.

We need to wake up.

Now.

Exactly.

I’ve spent time in China. I watch Chinese TV programs regularly on the internet (all subtitled in good English).

China scares the crap out of me. Spend 10 minutes in China and you will see it is not at all as portrayed. Much of it is increasingly modern and the people are entrepreneurial and work their butts off. What are the most popular programs on China TV? Programs about investment and business. People have money coming out of their ears, there is an expanding prosperous middle class that puts the U.S. to shame. It is a heavy duty country on the move and totally expansionistic. Everything is for “Our China.”

Sure it’s got its quality issues. But where do you think most of your devices are actually made? I’ve driven past the area in Xian where they make Apple’s I-phones for example.

In a no-trust society, they constantly cheat. Like substituting 26 AWG wire for the standard 22 AWG in network cables.

I have also spent time in China.

Except it was thirty years ago now.

I agree with everything you said. We have quite a challenge.

Big time.

I am glad Donald Trump finally, seems to be the first American president, who seems to get it.

The first guy. Ever.

If the Demorats take over both houses of Congress, all Trump has valiantly (yes, valiantly) strived to achieve (and with amazing success given the implacable opposition he's faced) will be reversed. He will be impeached and removed if the traitors have the votes. I do not trust an electorate who elected the Obomb twice.

Not possible, we spend more than they do on the military. Therefore we are INDESTRUCTIBLE.

(even if most of our spending is now for modifying everything for LGBTs)

“They build a great deal. More than we do now.”

Much more, NOT EVEN CLOSE. They’ve won, unless Trump can turn things around a bit.

“We need to wake up.”

I’ve been to China, traveled extensively on their freeways (actually toll roads). They are in PERFECT CONDITION, absolutely smooth, meet all US standards as far as I can tell, and have very nice roadside vegetation, like California once did until they went broke. As I said during my last trip there “you can’t fake freeways” Likewise, if their cities are falling apart, I haven’t seen evidence of it, but I do know of the apartment building that toppled, and I’m sure there are many other isolated examples - but they do deal with official corruption there, executing those who engage - unlike Obama/Holder/Lynch.

Been to India too - total dump, in most cities (some exceptions, but still nothing close to China).

We’re now somewhere in between.

I DARE ANYONE to travel to China now - they’re not hiding their wealth - they want people to come and see it, the advancement of their society, and their incredible infrastructure (all created in the past 20 years).

It is CHEAP AS HELL to go there too...go to Groupon and see for yourselves (as in 10 day/4 city trips there for under $1200, including air [both from here and inside China], lodging, some excursions, breakfasts, and some other meals). It is also super-cheap when you’re there, as in $3 to $6 for a meal (because they rig their currency, but it works great for us). Just don’t go in the summer, or even near summer...hotter than hell, and more expensive.

Over a decade ago I heard a high ranking Army officer state as a fact :
“The US military is dependent on the airbridge to Asia to conduct operations .” That was then, after BHO how much moreso.

I agree that special gay rights is ruining the military. Irrational accommodation for women is also hurting the military.

I was on the second cruise of what at the time the brand new Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas, the ship was so new it had that new car smell.
While i was out on my top deck balcony i noticed a slight surface rust forming on the outer railing.
I wonder where that steel came from...
that was like over 16 years ago i also wonder what it looks like now.

Both existing carriers are basically usable only for near shore operations and fleet defense. The third one will not be a sk-jump set up but use an EMALS system - something the Ford has not gotten working correctly yet. That one will be able to project forward power.

Within 15 years, over a quarter of China’s population with be over 60 years old. They have a looming senior citizen crisis. Because of the one-child policy they had for years, accompanied by gender selection births, they still have a large gender imbalance. Close to 30 million marrying age Chinese men cannot find a female spouse. They have demographic issues that are only getting worse.

China builds a great deal of failure-prone, dangerous, poorly-engineered, and low-quality CRAP.

Whole heartedly agree.
