And the Caribbean islands could be in real trouble along with what would then become FORMERLY Florida. ... as I understand it.

As I always say, all of Florida is merely a beach that sees wave activity infrequently enough to grow trees... With respect to the nuke, the wave height would be really localized. A heavy neutron flux though would probably create a roasting fallout cloud of short lived radioactive sodium isotope (Na24).
