Eberweins death came during the start of a series of hearings in the Haiti Senate, hearings centered around the use of donor funds, particularly, PetroCaribe funds which come from Venezuela. Klaus Eberwein was to testify in those hearings.
According to YourNewsWire, Eberwein was widely expected to testify of alleged misappropriation of international donor funds by the Clinton Foundation following the 2010 earthquake. While evidence that a testimony on the Clinton State Department and Foundation would have been nearly impossible to predict or uncover, it is not outside the bounds of reality. The Haiti Sentinel could not independently confirm or refute this claim.
