And there had to be luggage in the rear compartment. Any weight in the rear compartment makes it difficult to prevent tail heavy situations. I did a rough weight calc (lots of unknowns however) and came up with over 300lbs over carrying capacity for a Comanche 24 and a extreme tail heavy center of gravity.. Estimated 150 lbs of luggage, purses, etc, and that is most likely an underestimate. Assumed he took off with fuel tanks full, 60 gallons of LL100.

4 chicks, you know there was baggage. I re-calced to try and get GW down and went with 300# in front. Still overweight less than 3’ aft CG. AC was a timebomb, and I heard later it was nighttime? Zero chance at arriving @ a destination.
