My hope: Jimmy becomes an advocate for Trump's "Cleanup on Planet 3", helping to get a lot of Dems to at least listen.

Not totally certain I agree. Maybe. Partially.
Carter wasn’t on the inside while in office. He was a nuclear specialist in the sub service, but I believe he never made it past Lieutenant and was in the Naval Reserve. However, he became more and more a public supporter of, at least, the status quo after his term.
I believe he was tolerated as a pet spokesperson they could drag out for a performance of statesmanship. He must have overheard things, though. Rather than innocent, I wonder if he has simply accepted his own impotence and goes along to get along. He’s a wuss, so probably they didn’t even need to threaten.
Agree he wasn’t involved in the Satanism, et al.
He’s near his mortal end. I might believe he has some sins of omission to repent and so, he might have shared what he knows, if anything. Perhaps more valuable as corroboration that new intel.
