It's intended to be a puff piece, but it comes across as some kooky right-winger trying to make the Obamas look like elitist jerks.

Really, an apostrophe at the end of the sentence, for no reason whatsoever?

Even though the Obamas ARE elitist jerks.

It reads like someone's writing from another country was poorly translated into English.
