Wow.. If I remember correctly, Prodigy was the AOL alternative.. Forgot all about those days. Wish I had known about Art back then.. Discovered C2Cam in 2003.

Yes, it was. I think Prodigy was a better alternative to AOL in the forum categories. It was a good time. That's where I first cyber space met Jim Robinson. There were a lot of good folks on that old board. Many that are here as well as sadly many who have passed. Jim's frustration about Prodigy's rules drove him to create Free Republic. I don't remember specifically when he did it, but I poked around for a few months and finally signed up one Christmas Eve. Early on, there wasn't much activity. But once it started to grow it began to pick up speed quickly. I think I signed up as it was starting to gain speed with regard to threads and responses.

Art Bell spent a little more time in the political arena in the early days of his show. As it became more popular, he seemed to focus more on the paranormal and similar things. Even though Art wasn't carried in my area for many years, it was fun reading about things he discussed on his show. Before streaming audio on the web became common, a lot of folks wanted to have his show carried on short wave radio so they could hear it.

You can tell I'm getting old as I'm much more nostalgic than I used to be.
