True, however, one must consider the totality of the situation. A gunfight in the neighborhood is not going to have a humane result. A prison term for either the owner or the dog killer is not humane. So, choosing among unattractive alternatives, a surreptitious poisoning is a good way to avoid the loss of human life or the incarceration pf persons who need not be incarcerated.

I guess I not exactly against poisoning a dog, I’ll have to think about it. I’m against poisoning a dog with Ethylene Glycol.
