Historically the use of Treason was giving up to the foreign enemy, such as the Rosenberg couple for Russia.

Presently however, Domestic enemies should hardly be excluded, given their incessant internal battle over time to collapse the USA.

"Presently however, Domestic enemies should hardly be excluded, given their incessant internal battle over time to collapse the USA."

From a moral standpoint I understand your point, however I still don't understand how a legal charge of treason against say, McCabe, since he's now the subject of a referral to DOJ.

How would it work, as opposed to sedition, conspiracy, money laundering, (wife's political campaign...) perjury... the usual things that crooks get convicted of?

I mean, for example the U1 deal is an act of treason and we all know it. Morally speaking, that is. In legal terms though, we're not at war with Russia. Selling uranium or anything else to them is no different than selling the same thing to Canada or Japan. At least in the legal context of getting someone convicted in Federal court for treason.

" Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States. "

- 18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Treason
