PING
If anyone is wondering about all the red calligraphy on the paintings, think of a painting as a thread. The painting was a visual poem and there was often also an actual written poem to accompany it. When people visited the painting, they’d apply their seal ring to it as a thread reply, or comment, that would stay permanently with the painting. There are times when you’ll find a very long scroll, with a small painting in the middle. When they ran out of room, they’d just attach another piece so they could keep commenting. There are sometimes just threads that invite comments.
I used to work with a guy who was married to a Japanese girl.
One of her relatives gave them a “pillow book”. I looked through it and believe they are sexually weird.
