I’m considering filing for divorce. On the grounds of infidelity and betrayal — and I’m heartsick. Don’t get me wrong, I adore my husband. It’s my union with an intimate partner of more than three decades, the evangelical church, that’s in trouble.

I didn’t mean to say Simon Peter was mean-spirited — sorry it came out that way.

I was responding to the daughter making an argument to her mother that Trump is mean-spirited - just because she says so - maybe because of his tweets - but it’s nothing but a catchall phrase that they think requires no further explanation .. never mind any context.

So it made me wonder .. would she say Peter was mean-spirited for his gruff behavior...his boastings...drawing his sword, etc.

If it’s a bad comparison in your mind, I apologize.

???

I'm not a NeverTrumper. My husband and I voted for him and would do it again in a heartbeat.

You evidently sent that to the wrong person.

Then how do you explain Jesus’ rebuke to Peter? “What is that to you” does not seem like something one would say in answer to a brotherly or fatherly statement.

I don’t know.

It could be a warm and reassuring “That’s in My hands, not yours.”

When Julian of Norwich (14th century English mystic) asked Our Lord if her friend Margery Kempe was saved, Jesus told her, “Don’t ask. It’s not for you to know.”
