Very interesting post! I would not have realized that Waters used so much concert time for propaganda. It’s pretty remarkable that you held up so well.
Waters’ antisemitic stereotypes can be seen all the way back to Have a Cigar. I gather he somehow holds the Jews responsible for his father’s death, which happened in WWII. A friend who is a big Pink Floyd fan tells me that Waters is finally starting to mellow. That’s secondhand info so take with a grain of salt.
The whole time, he had multi-media shows being projected behind him, showing Palestinians being brutalized by police, bodies in rubble, a B-52 dropping a stream of bombs, a mother crying over the bodies of children, etc.
In between songs, he would talk at length.
I used to love Pink Floyd. Loved the music. I cannot even listen to it now, I was that angry. And that is what...14 years ago?
Well...I will always hold out hope for people. People change.
Those are dead on theories I have told my wife many times. He does blame the Jews and he feels he needs to lash out at them as much as possible. Funny, the Wall reflects a Nazi theme more then anything. Roger is just a loon (Musical Genius) but loon never the less.
