BARCELONA, Spain Roger Waters, former frontman for Pink Floyd, denounced the White Helmets during a concert last Friday in Barcelona.
He called the group who pose as a civilian rescue group as a fake organization that prompted propaganda for jihadists and terrorists.
The former Pink Floyd frontman claimed that listening to propaganda of the White Helmets and others we would be encouraged to encourage our governments to go and start dropping bombs on people in Syria.
What spouted the political driven comments was someone wanting to go on stage to talk about the alleged chemical attack in Syrias Douma.
He is one voice, I personally think he is entirely wrong, I believe the organization that he purports to represent and who he supports, the White Helmets, are a fake organization that is creating propaganda for jihadists and terrorists, thats what I believe, Waters said.
The words by Waters were received to loud cheers by the audience demonstrating that the Spanish and Catalonian public are no easily susceptible to obvious propaganda unlike many people in other parts of Western Europe.
Waters antisemitism is well documented apart from the ADL. Waters has been very outspoken about it.
Syd Barrett holds more sound political views that Roger Waters ever will.
Regardless of Waters’ character, the statement is 100% true.
White Helmets = Al Qaeda with white helmets on. They’ve been photographed together and the key players have also been photographed with John McCain.
Syd is dead and his political views are still more reasonable that those of Waters !!
The whole time, he had multi-media shows being projected behind him, showing Palestinians being brutalized by police, bodies in rubble, a B-52 dropping a stream of bombs, a mother crying over the bodies of children, etc.
In between songs, he would talk at length.
I used to love Pink Floyd. Loved the music. I cannot even listen to it now, I was that angry. And that is what...14 years ago?
Well...I will always hold out hope for people. People change.
Wow, I am a Floydian and hate Roger. This time he is spot on.
Shine On Roger.
So Waters figured out how to turn what should have been great entertainment (that people had paid good money for) into into a ghoulish attempt at mind-control. That is just plain vile. Sounds as if, in addition to antisemitism, he had mental issues.
...or David Gilmour? (more importantly, IMO)
Well played, sir.
Oh by the way “which one’s Pink”?
Exactly. I was VERY angry. Those tickets weren’t cheap! But I was determined not to make a scene and ruin it for everyone else.
Lesson learned!
Those are dead on theories I have told my wife many times. He does blame the Jews and he feels he needs to lash out at them as much as possible. Funny, the Wall reflects a Nazi theme more then anything. Roger is just a loon (Musical Genius) but loon never the less.
As we say in GA: I heard that. I’ve been to my share of expensive concerts. If any of the headliners had used the occasion for deranged Leftist propaganda, I’d have been steamed to the boiling point.
Well, in college, I played young Pink, the Doctor and well.. yeah, a stand-in for an anti-semite.
As a science education major, it was sorta being surreal staring out at the audience, seeing the Education Department as a clique in the front row, and screaming out, “We don’t need no education; we don’t need no thought control!”
That’s a very succinct and apt summary. There is no getting around Waters’ talent. He was amazing in his heyday. (Though I do agree with those who noted that Floyd was stronger as a unit than as individual components.)
I was told that Waters made a pilgrimage to the place in Italy where his father was killed, and that it brought him a measure of peace. I hope it’s true; as you rightly noted, he was quite the loon in some ways.
He didn’t stay away from he brown acid.
At the time, the Nazi fantasies puzzled me. He hates the British military because his Dad dies in WWII, so he fantasizes about being Nazi? Come to find out, that’s just the way lefties work. So much about the far-left is just playing out Nazi fantasies: at some point, you have to realize that dressing up as Bush or Trump dressed up as a Nazi still is dressing up as a Nazi. If you’re a pacifist or a libertarian, it sorta makes sense, but the second you rationalize terrorism or support Obama’s brownshirt movement, you’re not safely enough removed to be purely satirical.
My wife and I went to a show on that tour (Manassas, VA, if I recall correctly). We walked out before the intermission - which sucked because he was supposed to perform the entire Dark Side of the Moon album during the second set.
A minute or so after Roger started his vitriolic anti-American diatribe I started yelling “Shut up and Play” as loud as I could. Some other people in our section took up the chant, but we were grossly outnumbered by the mindless drones who were just lapping up his B.S.
Once he launched the pig, emblazoned with “F-— Bush” and other anti-American slogans, out over the audience my wife and I got up to leave. A few of the anti-Bush types who had heard my previous comment decided to forcefully impede our progress; fortunately touching only me, not my wife. When I informed them I had no intention of fighting them, but would not hesitate to kill them if they made it necessary, they backed down and we departed that wretched scene. For a few minutes, though, I thought I was actually going to have to shoot somebody.
While I still enjoy the music of Pink Floyd, I have not placed one additional dime in that asshole’s pocket since that night. As far as I am concerned, Roger Waters is already dead.
Turns out that in most ways, Syd was less crazy than Waters.....”are you getting it yet?”
He’s got it!
