Art Bell, a radio host best known for a paranormal-themed nightly show syndicated on hundreds of stations in the 1990s, died at his home in southern Nevada, authorities said Saturday.

Almost did not recognize him. Looks like he may have had some construction done. Certainly botox injections, it looks like.

I used to listen to Mr. Bell quite a bit. He was the best at what he did, and for the topics he covered. He would give just about anyone a respectful hearing, and could often ask really illuminating questions. I recall an interview with him, where he described his philosophy of conducting the show. He said that when he had people on, he considered it as if he'd invited them into his home, and he acted accordingly, like a good host.

As a long-time listener you could sometimes pick out when he thought his guest was quite full of it, but the casual listener would not have noticed, as he was almost invariably polite, and a gentleman. There is something to be said for that, especially today when incivility seems to rule more often than not.

God bless you Mr. Bell, and my sincere hope is that you will be reunited with your wife who preceded you to the great final unknown.

The only thing that compared was watching “Unsolved Mysteries” alone at night with their creepy theme music and Robert Stack’s voice!!

Also the voice of the guy on the alerts from the National Weather service during inclament weather were spooky for me as a kid.
