After two men were seen in social media video being handcuffed and removed by police officers from a Philadelphia Starbucks Thursday, the coffee chain issued an apology and said it is looking into the "unfortunate result."
Authorities were called to the store in Center City when the two men allegedly remained in the Starbucks after a manager told them they had to order something, according to the witnesses inside the Starbucks at 18th and Spruce streets. About five to seven police officers arrived about 4:30 p.m. and arrested the two men.
The men, who have not been identified, were later released after Starbucks declined to press trespassing charges.
Video of the encounter shows the two men calm as they are surrounded by officers, who ask them to stand up before handcuffing them and leading them out of the store. Witnesses inside the store could be heard asking what the men did that would lead the officers to arrest them.

This is a set up-—they wanted to get arrested.
.
Feral Entitlement.
How long were they there?
Aren’t most Starbucks run by liberals?
I buy my coffee almost exclusively at Dunkin Donuts. Only on Vets day, do I venture in the Starbucks to get my free coffee.
Exactly. I watched the video of Commissioner Richard Ross explaing the entire event...the arrest was textbook perfect.
The men were taking up customer space, not ordering anything.
Worst of all, they refused to leave after being requested to.
This is a restaurant, not a waiting station.
No one is entitled to a table and chair when they are not bringing in any new money. Sca-daddle!!
Next time give them job applications
Article makes like its illegal to arrest blacks.
Philadelphia is completely liberal Democrat and black operated.
Well you know what the media all it takes is one or two people complaining then it’s outrage grows, protesters this, protestors that, outrage!
it’s all just a bunch of concocted nonsense.
Uh, why is there “outrage” over their arrest? They were loitering. They were politely asked to leave, and refused.
This would be no issue if those were two white guys arrested for not following the requests of the owners/employees. But, glad to see a liberal organization getting attacked for this same BS.
Yes, absolutely.
Whatever.
/shrug
They will now sue. Already, a horde of lawyers is trying to contact them to open a lawsuit. Starbucks will bow down in penitence and give the two guys any money they ask for.
Some folks will hang out at Starbucks for the free wifi . Theyll nurse a cup of coffee for hours for the privilege. Some just sit in their car and do it.
Lately, though, for free wifi, their login screen fequires a name and address. Before, you could just accept the terms and dive in.
Maybe these two were just websurfing and occupying seats normally taken by paying customers (however marginally) doing the same. Maybe not. But if they just sat there and bought nothing in a commercial space, thats loitering and most cities have laws against that.
And even after the police arrived, they could have ended it by just walking outside.
