If you don’t mind I feel like that’s a great beginning for a sermon. I need a good Spring sermon for Sunday.
New Yorkers have gotten too far from a childs picture book to know what a tiger looks like...
...or a raccoon.
In my tagline “sluts” is intended as a gender-neutrsl noun...
There isn’t a single marketer paying for media ads who doesn’t want stupid people to watch them. So I blame the media first.
Well said.
Tiger reported running through streets of New York _ or not
Because of technology, people no longer talk, face to face, to one another. They believe that what's on line is "true", when it is NOT! And most people have NOT/do NOT read anything worthwhile anymore; not even the greats of fiction...let alone well written nonfiction books.
Parents have long ago abnegated their responsibility...re teaching and raising their children.
Movies and T.V. shows are utter garbage.
Being well educated is no longer seen as valuable.
Imagination and curiosity has been beaten out of several generations.
Supposedly the last time 65% of eligible US voters voted in national elections was back in 1908, less for state and local. It hasnt broken that since, a lot of them being below 55%. At least by any thing that I have seen.
Nobody really seems to care that millions and millions in campaign money is spent to convince the swayable to vote one way or the other, and we still havent broken 65% eligible voter turnout in 108 years. That is pretty amazing to me.
Supposedly the dumbest 10% of voters, the ones that vote one way and then another and cant usually give a reason that follows any sort of logical explanation and aren’t guided by a consistent political philosophy, are the ones that decide elections. Supposedly all campaign money is meant to sway the swing voters, at least after the primary process.
Thats something else I find amazing. That the dumbest 10% of eligible voters who still somehow manage to vote decide all elections, whether or not a pub or dem wins. It could be a good result or a bad one, but in any case the idiots decided it based on who managed to sway more of them.
Freegards
It all stems from the combination of two things: a standard of living unparalleled in modern times (if not all history) and a failure to impress upon the youth (from the boomers on) how blessed (yes blessed, not lucky, not fortunate) they are to be living in this era compared to what preceded it.
I do mainly blame liberals for this, since they have successfully infiltrated the public schools, the popular culture and many legislative bodies to ensure that “if it feels good, do it” took the place of what used to be known as common sense.
We’ll be watering crops with Mountain Dew before this is all over.
Your husband is a wise man - but he’s probably giving people too much credit ;-)
Congrats for creating what is probably the most wide-open and potentially interesting thread that I’ve seen pop up here :-)
In spite of its terse beginnings I actually have high hopes for this thread.
Good job!
In all fairness, many years ago, perhaps in the 1920s, a Chicago politician with state office ambitions, actually left the city to see the rest of the state. Among other things, he saw a mature cornfield and asked what that was. When told it was corn, he replied, “You mean that stuff that comes in cans?”
When the World War I draft began, there was much confusion in the more rural parts around the Mason-Dixon line, because of the assumption on both sides that the Civil War was starting up again.
As far as corrupted religious faith went, the 20th Century was riddled with religious frauds and scoundrels, such as Father Divine, who eventually promoted himself as God; James F. Jones, “Prophet Jones”, who claimed, and his followers ascribed to him, divine powers from God as a special premillennial “incarnation of the spirit of Jesus Christ”.
There were many such people in “the good old days”.
Locals to me believe electricity is magical, that you just plug in cords and voila, it’s there.
So they lobbied to shutdown Indian Point, then someone pointed out that the reactor supplied most of the electricity to Westchester county.
So then these same idiots are lobbying against a compressed natural gas plant in Orange County NY.
They insist that there will be heavy metal contamination from there exhaust....
...from natural gas.
Someone please point out the issue with this, I feel soiled just mentioning that idiocy.
Psalm 111:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise
People who get their news from SNL and late night comedians definitely are!
Some people are too stupid to be idiots.
