A Mount Joy Township woman is the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s biggest scofflaw, having racked up nearly $92,000 in unpaid tolls and fees for trips between the Harrisburg East and Mechanicsburg interchanges, according to a criminal complaint.

The toll for E-ZPass users who make the 11-mile trip is $1.74, but Lori Yearick allegedly failed to pay any toll more than 1,600 times between January 2012 and March 2017.

Yearick, 45, is scheduled to go before a Dauphin County Common Pleas judge next Tuesday on a felony charge of theft of services, said Ray Morrow, the turnpike’s chief of compliance.

“It’s kind of hard to fight these charges,” he said. “We have pictures of her driving through each time.”

Yearick allegedly failed to pay about $26,000 in tolls. The turnpike also is seeking violation fees totaling $66,000, the complaint says.

Her lawyer, Edward Spreha Jr. of Harrisburg, did not return requests for comment Wednesday.

I'm no math wiz, but $1.74 x 1,600 = $2,784. Where do they get $26,000??

That’s about $48 per day for every single day of a five-year, three month period. That’s about 27 trips per day. Does she most of her waking hours driving up and down that one stretch of road?

Hm. JAN2012 - MAR2017 is about 1900 days, give or take when in those months this started/ended. Take $26M and divide by 1600 tolls, gives us $16.25 per toll.

If she's at the non-tag rate, and probably getting billed for the whole stretch, that's an easy number to hit. Dallas area is maybe half that per full-length. And if she's driving to one place, then home the same day, that's only 800 days of tolls over those five years (1900 days).
