I understand my conservative son changes the subject when I talk about Q. He’s 30. Every once in a while he slips and ask me a question about something that in the news. Its when we go out to lunch. Rules are..no phones during our lunch time.
I have a truce with my two early-20s daughters: I can notify them occasionally to remain quiet and receive an important message from their father. This buys me 2-5 minutes, which is really all I need if I am succinct and to the point.
I do not expect them to agree, just to listen. It’s like “Eat your vegetables. You may not like it, but it’s good for you.”
Of course, I cannot abuse this “I transmit/you receive” protocol by overusing it. :)
