I think that the space station had run out of fuel, hence it could not maintain a proper orbit and eventually deorbited. I don’t think it was shot down.

The Chinese lost control of the space station in 2016 when Obama was still president. Unless it was rogue CIA, I can’t see that the USA would have been involved.

I don't think that's what happened, but if it was, think "Superman."
Approach the station, put a small rocket engine on it that slows it down, and it will fall sure as can be.
