Read the WaPo article (distasteful as that suggestion is)... all the neighbors knew about the abuse, the grossly underfed kids ("she looked 7" and the neighbor was shocked to learn she was a teen), etc... and all the "friends" of the (activist, lesbian) couple all just raved about how happy they were and how ideal their family life was. In other words, the LGBTQ friends cannot allow a negative Narrative to escape, because it might reflect reality. The disconnect between the two sets of witnesses is stark and a bit unnerving.
